FCE - Speaking Paper - Part 2 Long turn

In my experience, Part 2 (long turn) is probably one of the most demanding parts in the speaking paper.  One minute might seem like a short time, but there are a number of aspects candidates need to cover efficiently in that time.  This is a presentation we've used to help our students get ready to tackle the test with confidence.  Haiku Deck  is a wonderful tool to prepare presentations. It provides pictures and a limited number of fonts. Make it Memorable (2)

  Giving students assignments can have all shapes and forms. Some can involve just a paper or line on the board, others can be a little more attractive.   What about this preparing one like this?  Glogster is a great tool for presentations, posters, assignments. It can have any shape, background, colour you can think of. It will give all the space your imagination needs. QR Codes. In the classroom?

At the end of the year, teachers have tons of dates and assignments we need to comply with, that is the case here and in almost every educational setting I can think of.  Last weekend I wanted to send a reminder of the dates we needed to take into account in the following weeks but I wanted something that could make it memorable, I didn´t want to send an ordinary reminder. Something different... a card ?, a short video? a presentation?  Bearing in mind one of my main objectives is to show teachers different tools and how they can be used for educational purposes I wanted something new... that´s when I remembered QR codes. Choose one and prepare a presentation to share with your peers next class.

This week it´s Ways of Looking. I used a very simple tool called Popplet . I have sent an invite so that you can contribute to our mind map. Just double click on any place and a new bubble will appear where you can write your definition, upload a picture, video. Activity : Look for phrases, idioms, expressions with "ways of looking" to add to the map.  

Vocabulary Building

This time it´s Ways of Breaking. Have you ever considered the amount of words in English you can find which describe different ways of breaking or damaging things? Here I´ve selected only some. Have a look! Activity: Burst into flames. Crack a joke... There are lots of phrases, idioms, expressions with many of the words presented today. Find at least five, write a sentence using each of them and post it as a comment underneath.

This time we´ll  go over different types of walking and moving. A new word cloud and tool  Wordsift Although not as visually attractive as Wordle or Tugxedo, by clicking on "Create Workplace" you can drag and drop any of the words you like from the word cloud above and organize them in whatever way you prefer. Interesting additions are the pictures you can find when you click on one of the words and the Visual Thesaurus.  Now give this puzzle a try!
